¡Africala regresa! Luego de unos meses de intensos viajes que nos han llevado a España, Sudáfrica, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Chile, Argentina, Brasil, y Venezuela estamos nuevamente en la Ciudad de México! La tercera edición de Africala se realizará del 20 al 26 de abril del 2009 en las sala del Centro Cultural Universitario (UNAM), Cinemas Lumiere Reforma y Centro Cultural de España de la Ciudad. Gracias al apoyo del público Africala se ha posicionado como un referente en latinoamerica en lo que a cine africano se refiere.Nos hemos presentado en las Cinematecas más importanmtes de Latinoamerica y también en diversos espacios alternativos. Este año tendremos más invitados internacionales y contamos con una sorpresa que pronto daremos a conocer! Volvimos a México...¡vuelve el cine africano! |

En primer plano la actriz argelina Biyuna) Una vez más Africala ha sido invitada a participar en el VI Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia. En esta oportunidad se presentó la comedia argelina ¨Delice Paloma¨ de Nadir Moknèche. La elección de este año se basó en la posibilidad de dar a conocer al público mexicano un estilo de comedia fresca y también para a conocer el excelente trabajo de una de las más famosas de Argelia: Biyuna, que interpreta el papel de Madame Aljezira. While aiming to show the best of Mexican cinema and its festivals in Africa, during the month of June an Ambulante Program was put into place within the Zanzibar International Film Festival, in Tanzania. This showing had the support and funding of the Mexican Foreign Ministry and the Mexican Embassy in Kenya. Screenings were held of ¨My life inside¨ by Lucia Gajá and ¨Old thieves¨ by Everardo González. The prize-winning documentary by Lucia was the inauguration film in the old fort amphitheater, which faces the Coast of the Indian Ocean. Marthin Mhando, director of ZIFF welcomed the presence of Mexico, once again, and reminded the audience of the importance of creating greater ties between Africa and Latin America. During the two hours of the film, the local audience, normally a rowdy crowd, fell silent under the starry Zanzibar sky. This screening was part of the Program to Publicize Latin American Cinema in Africa which Africala now heads. More info... |

AFRICALA 2008 has concluded its second edition with the participation of 6,910 people attending all its screenings, which represents a 40% growth from our first edition. This audience is divided into: 1,200 people at the inaugural screening at the “Teatro de la Ciudad”; 2,572 people at the Sala José Revueltas; 953 at the Cinematógrafo del Chopo ; 65 at the Sala Fósforo ; 640 at the Centro Cultural de España and 1,488 at the Lumiere Reforma. These numbers speak of the great interest the Mexican audiences have for this Cinema. They are numbers which help us carry on each year making it better and better each year.
