Within the Framework of the second Edition of Africala in Mexico City, the director of the film “Mauritania”, Abderrahmane Sissako, was awarded the Medal of the UNAM Film Library-the most prestigious prize given by the institution. The ceremony was presided over by the Library’s director, Mrs. Guadalupe Ferrer. Sissako was greatly moved buy the award and in return offered the library a 35mm. copy of his film ¨Bamako¨.  The participation of Sissako, was made possible by the support and aid of the French Embassy in Mexico.
